Roger Bullivants digging the trench and Hepworth suppling piping for the earth-air heat exchanger system
This is a system that utilises underground pipes to exchange heat with air supplied to the house and the earth. The pipes are buried at a depth of approximately 2m where the temperature of the ground remains at 10-12 degC for the entire year. The air supplied to the house passes through the burried pipe where it will be pre-cooled in the summer and pre-heated the winter. It is hoped that this system will reduce the winter heating load and any requirement for comfort cooling.
