Wall insulation
The walls of the C60 house are insulated with Springvale Platinum Wallshield, a high performance expanded polystyrene insulant that incorporates a graphite constituent - BASF Neopor.
The minute particles of graphite incorporated into Platinum insulation act as reflectors that inhibit heat transfer by radiation, creating a product that has improved thermal insulation properties by some 20% over original EPS material. This enables much thinner boards to be used in the same applications.

The environment
The high level of insulation provided by Platinum products makes a positive contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by reducing the amount of fossil fuel required to heat buildings. Platinum is manufactured without the use of CFC’s or HCFC’s. It has zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and zero GWP (Global Warming Potential). Using the BRE environmental profiling system, Platinum scores as few as 0.043 Ecopoints over a 60 year lifespan.

Recycling
Every board of Platinum contains recycled EPS material.
