SunPipes

Monodraught SunPipes are being used to pipe in natural daylight and sunlight to interior parts of this new Eco House. SunPipes were first introduced to the Uk by Monodraught in 1996 and consist of a silverised, mirror-finish aluminium tube with 96% reflectance that reflects natural light down from a Diamond shaped dome at roof level to a prismatic ceiling diffuser, which then diffuses natural light to the room below. There is virtually no limit to the length of SunPipe or the number of bends that can be used. Monodraught manufacture a range of 10 different sizes from 230mm up to 1500mm diameter and these can also be coupled with their natural ventilation system, SunCatcher, as installed at the existing Eco House at the University.

‘We are delighted to be involved with
the C60 House at the University
of Nottingham. Virtually all
Monodraught's products have
been tested and perfected at the
University. To be involved with
the C60 House gives exciting momentum
to the development of Monodraught's
low energy technologies and the
reaction almost universally reflects the
success of the application of SunPipes,
Windcatchers, and Suncatchers,
which we consider have an
extremely important part to play in
the nation's strive for lowering
our energy costs.’
